I tried the Roasted Duck and the Shiu Roasted Pork.
The duck needs a plumb sauce! Or a bbq sauce! Something to kill the saltiness of the duck!
I suggest making duck won tons, duck spring rolls, and duck egg rolls. A duck salad roll would be really good too!
A duck fried rice would be awesome too!
Even though the portion size looked small, I couldn’t finish it and it packed a punch! It tasted great, it filled me completely, and it kept me full for hours.
My advice, for whatever it’s worth: order the duck without bones because the bones get in the way of the eating experience.
If you order this for take out, I advise getting the 1/2 or whole duck, just on its own, take it home, no sides. Then make yourself some Swiss Chalet sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and have plumb sauce on hand for dipping too so you get both experiences in flavour from the duck. The Duck itself is incredibly filling so a little goes a long way. It’s really tasty on its own but the saltiness from the duck fat is really overpowering.
The Shiu Pork is good, it’s bbq pork. The vegetable option was like a bok choi and it was good. The rice was standard white rice.
Overall it’s okay. If you pair the duck up with unique or interesting sauces it might be something you can get addicted to. If they made other dishes with the roasted duck like spring rolls or egg-rolls it might be a perfect finger food that way.
I am interested in trying more items on the menu, I only tried one dish so it’s not a deep review. Plumb sauce might really offer a flavour depth that is needed to really make the duck flavours really pop.
It will be interesting to see how this restaurant chain develops over time.

I went to the Barrhaven location and was pleased with the overall experience. I liked the three meat combo which includes chicken, bbq pork and duck with rice and bai chai. I really liked the mango sago dessert with fresh mango and pomelo and mint was great in the warm weather. The service was great and will come back again 😊
